Motor Finance Commission Complaints

On 30 March 2026, the Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”) published the final rules for its industry-wide Motor Finance Consumer Redress Scheme (PS26/3).

This scheme covers certain motor finance agreements involving commission arrangements between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024.

Under the new scheme, the updated deadlines for issuing a final response or redress determination are:

  • For agreements started between 1st April 2014 and 1st November 2024, firms must aim to send a response by 30th September 2026.
  • For agreements started between 6th April 2007 and 31st March 2014, firms must aim to send a response by 30th November 2026.

Several parties, including CA Auto Finance UK, have referred the Motor Finance Consumer Redress Scheme to the Upper Tribunal for independent review.

What you need to do if you have made a complaint

You do not need to take any action at this stage. We will continue to investigate your complaint and assess it against the FCA’s rules and the compensation schemes, where applicable. We are carefully considering what impact the referrals to the Upper Tribunal may have on the compensation schemes and on the relevant dates set out above.  When we know more, we will update this webpage and communicate directly with customers who have already made a complaint.
